Green Furniture in Sonoma, California

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

As purveyors of some of the finest furniture rental in Toronto around, we know great furniture when we see it—after all, we see it every day in our showroom.  But simply because we’re in the furniture field doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate what others do.  Far from it, actually.  We thrill at seeing elegant, novel approaches to home furnishing, approaches like what Michael Palace of Sonoma, California does.

We came across an article about Michael Palace’s furniture creations, located on SonomaPatch while trawling through our trusty saved search for “furniture” on our favorite news aggregator.  Palace has a background in art and design and has spent decades working as a carpenter, contractor, and custom remodeler.  After realizing the sheer amount of waste that is produced via construction can be alarmingly high, he decided to do something about it.  He started off by saving usable pieces of construction materials and figuring out a way to repurpose them.  He now puts his findings to good use by designing and creating custom-designed furniture.

The article is an engaging and worthwhile read.  In addition to describing how he comes across the materials he uses for his creations (sometimes by donation, other times by simple foraging), the article highlights the benefits of Palace’s waste-not approach. Palace’s work process is also given some treatment.

A particularly rewarding passage occurs when the author, Morgan Ray, describes how Palace constructs his carefully wrought creations by using tried-and-true methods of quality furniture crafting, not simple fixes like nails and screws.  Ray describes the “mortise and tenon joints, dovetail drawers and doweled jambs” Palace frequently employs, which we find to be a rather pretty turn of phrase.

From one organization that understands quality furniture to Palace, a kindred spirit located in sunny California, we offer cheers and support for fighting the good fight.

Special Event Furnishings Toronto: CORT’s New Products For 2011

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

We here at Executive Furniture Rentals are focused on bringing the best special event furnishings in Toronto.  After all, we’re a product of this fine city, and we pride ourselves in providing top-notch local service whenever and wherever possible.

Whether we’re discussing our special event furnishings in Toronto solutions or any of our other unparalleled services such as home furniture rental, office furniture rental, and custom corporate housing, the fact remains that we hone our efforts in on Toronto.  This is our backyard, and we have the experience and expertise to provide the best services possible here, so that’s where we focus our work.

However, just because we work primarily in Toronto doesn’t mean we’re not well-connected elsewhere.  Indeed, as a member of the esteemed CORT Global network, we’ve established ourselves as part of a far-reaching group that shares our core values of excellence, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Today, we’re proud to announce some of CORT’s new products for the upcoming 2011 season.

Consider, for example, the Essex Collection, which is CORT’s take on the current furniture trend of Hollywood style.  Consisting of a two-tone sofa and chair, the Essex Collection is sure to please.

Another new product is Luna Transformations, which points to an ingenious method of redecoration.  An adhesive in four translucent patterns, Luna Transformations allows anyone to add a new element of visual interest to any Luna Lighting furniture.  It’s a practical and savvy way to put a new spin on already excellent furniture.

These announcements are always an exciting time, because many of these products go on to be spectacular successes.  Case in point: the 2010 introduction of the Endless Seating Collection, a system of modular seating.  It’s the kind of forward-thinking vision that engendered the Endless Seating Collection that we nurture in ourselves, and that we’re happy to see in an organization like CORT.

Toronto Furniture Rental: IDS11 Approaches!

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

That’s right, folks—for a Toronto furniture rental establishment such as ourselves, the 13th annual Interior Design Show, located in our very own Toronto, is a highly anticipated event.  Shucks, we’ll go beyond that and call it a “feast for the senses.”  There’s a good reason for that: In the 13 years that the Interior Design Show’s been gracing Toronto, it has hosted over 4,000 designers, firms, companies, and studios to strut their stuff.  In that same time period, over 550,000 visitors have flocked to Toronto to see what the leading luminaries in contemporary interior design from all across Canada and the world over have been up to.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to check out some new designer furniture for your home or office, or simply to get inspired by the latest trends.  Plenty of speakers will also be on-hand for further inspiration and/or instruction.

This event is an excellent way to the city of Toronto itself to showcase itself as a cutting-edge location in terms of design.  We fervently believe that this is the case, a case strengthened when Toronto holds world-renowned showcases like the Interior Design Show.

All the information in this post regarding the Interior Design Show was taken from their excellent, informative website.  Browse the Interior Design Show website here.

Home Furniture Toronto: Barcalounger Returns to America

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

Though we at Executive Furniture Rentals are a home furniture in Toronto service, we can’t help but be tickled by this bit of news from south of the border.  None other than the famed Barcalounger, a brand of recliner immortalized in lore and legend, will be returning to the United States next month.

The Barcalounger has a storied history with its roots in Buffalo, New York, where it was originally built by the Barcolo Manufacturing Company.  Its pioneering products became an inspiration for furniture makers the world over (and, in a much more relatable and day-to-day-way, to impromptu nappers everywhere).  Leisure is built into the company fabric, as they were, legendarily, the first company to allow its employees sanctioned coffee breaks.  Though this tale might be somewhat apocryphal, it nevertheless illustrates the importance of relaxation, something that, in a Barcalounger, is not hard to achieve.

No word on whether or not the iconic recliner will make its way to Canada, but we’re an optimistic bunch here at Executive Furniture Rentals.  Regardless, the return of exquisite comfort, at least to denizens of Las Vegas is assured.

We found this information while perusing FurnitureToday.com.  Here’s the article about Barcalounger’s reintroduction.  We thought those of you who are interested in home furniture in Toronto might be interested in home furniture elsewhere.

We’re a premier solution for home furniture in Toronto, but we’re also a lot of other things too.  Whether you’re looking for the aforementioned home furniture in Toronto, office furniture, office systems and panels, special events solutions for the Toronto area, or custom corporate housing, we’ve got it all.  We even offer excellent support for home staging in Toronto, a rapidly burgeoning industry that can give you an edge in a competitive real estate sales market.  What’s more, we’re a proud member of the CORT Global Network, a group of the finest furniture rental solutions from across the world.  Wherever you’re going, we’ll be there.

Toronto Furniture Rental: Spotlight on Contemporary Furniture

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

At Executive Furniture Rentals, we pride ourselves in providing an excellent range of Toronto furniture rental solutions.  Today, we’re going to outline two related but different definitions of the term “contemporary furniture.”

The phrase is commonly used.  It’s appended to the collections of a host of furniture stores in a way that telegraphs cutting-edge quality and unique styles.  This definition of contemporary furniture suggests that contemporary furniture is designer-driven, arty, and high-end.  It’s made for consumption by discerning folk with deep pockets.  In this sense, “contemporary” is an extension of the art term “modern,” which means it’s related to the hallmarks of modern art.

While this categorization of contemporary furniture certainly holds, there’s another, more commonplace definition in which the term refers to any furniture made that doesn’t appear to be part of a period style.  It’s furniture that looks, to our eyes, more or less “normal.”  In this sense, “contemporary” refers to the time in which the furniture was made, which is, more or less, now.  The furniture looks “normal” to us because it was made with the general public’s current (or “contemporary”) tastes and desires in mind.  This is why furniture that was contemporary 50 years ago is evocative of a different time and place to us today.

With our extensive selection of stylings for both home and office, Executive Furniture Rental has plenty of furniture that can fit either definition of “contemporary furniture.”  From impeccably designed, thoughtfully rendered pieces to everyday, utilitarian items, we have all your Toronto furniture rental needs.

Whether you’re looking for office furniture in Toronto, home furniture in Toronto, or a more specialized service like special events planning or home staging in Toronto, know that we at Executive Furniture Rentals are uniquely equipped to provide you with exactly what you’re looking for.  Contact us today to learn more about what we can do for you.

Aeron Chairs in Toronto

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

aeron chairs torontoThe Aeron chair is a Herman Miller product, designed in 1994 by Don Chadwick and Bill Stumpf. It soon became a symbol of the dot-com bubble in the late 1990′s.

The chair was intentionally ergonomically designed to be very comfortable due to it’s range of fittings and adjustability. What makes it unique is the back seat which is made of stretched, semi transparent and flexible mesh called Pellicle.

Other manufacturers have followed with lighter and environmentally friendlier chairs such as Steelcase’s Think and Knoll’s Chadwick, but Aeron has maintained its icon status over time.

You’ll see the chair in Trump’s Apprentice board room, Elle Magazine’s meeting room (did you see the last episode of “The City”?) and dozens of other movies and commercials which fuels Aeron’s super status. In fact, we just rented 10 to an upcoming movie presently being shot in Toronto ( sorry, we are not allowed to reveal details)!

While Aeron may be North America’s most popular chair, it may not be the best chair for everyday office use. We have a variety of other office furniture in Toronto that can suit the needs of any office on any budget. I hope you will join me in the upcoming posts as I examine some alternative seating that may just be healthier for our bodies. Stay tuned!

Office Systems Furniture For Call Centers

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

When renting office furniture, there are numerous variables to consider.  The size of your organization is one, as is the corresponding office space available.  Those with a lot of room to spread out, for example, will have a wider variety of options available to choose from, whereas those in more cramped quarters might lack that luxury.  Another factor to weigh is the nature of the work an office carries out.  The expectations of clients visiting a lawyer’s office and clients emailing a web developer’s firm will differ dramatically: in the latter instance, for example, the customer might never even step foot into the office.

It is with these considerations in mind that we turn to the idea of furnishing a call center.  Despite the common association many have of call centers consisting of a staff that’s outsourced overseas, there are plenty of call centers right here in Toronto.  Many of them specialize in B2B sales, lead generation, and telemarketing.  It’s not in their primary interest to furnish their offices with fine, executive-style office desks—not because they’re cheap, but because it’s a waste of space!  Who needs a gigantic, imposing cherry-wood desk with banks upon banks of drawers when all you’re doing is operating a computer and a telephone?  Why have a space to stash all your folders when the only folders you’re dealing with are on your computer’s desktop?

That’s where our line of office furniture systems comes in.  Designed to maximize space efficiency without sacrificing comfort or privacy, our office systems are perfect for call centers of all sizes.  Our systems, known for their modularity, are great for any budget, and are also a breeze to expand and rearrange, which is great for those in the process of adding new employees, or for those who might be planning a move to another location.

So if you’re looking for office furniture systems in Toronto, you know where to look.  Executive Furniture Rentals has you covered.

Start Off the New Year with New Furniture

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Happy New Year, Toronto! Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? It seems the most common ones involve self-improvement — exercising more, eating healthier, etc. — and we think new furniture falls into that category. How would a new sofa help me improve myself? you might be wondering. Well, by improving the look of your home or office, you can make your space more efficient and appealing, thereby increasing your happiness. If you have a comfortable place to relax and sleep, and a comfortable place to work, that’s definitely a life improvement.

Now, we’re not saying that you have to throw everything in your home or office away and go shopping for new stuff. In many situations, furniture just might need to be repaired, cleaned and/or rearranged to improve a space and make it more appealing or functional. But if you’re in need of a lot of furniture either short- or long-term, there’s an affordable option worth considering: furniture for hire.

If you’re trying to sell your home this year, rental furniture is perfect for home staging. Perhaps the best and fastest way to make your home appealing to potential buyers, home staging really does work. Many people may not be willing to trying home staging to sell their home because they do not want to spend the money buying new furniture. But buying new furniture isn’t necessary—rental furniture is ideal, especially because it will be in the home for a limited amount of time. Plus, when the home sells, the rental furniture company will come and move the furniture out for you. No worrying about selling it or hiring movers. With rental furniture, home staging is so easy and affordable.

Even if you’re not selling your home, rental furniture can be a good bet for your situation. Imagine transforming your living room, bedroom and dining room in a matter of days with quality, gorgeous furniture. It’s possible with Executive Furniture Rentals. Contact us to find out more.
